Beef And Brocolli
Beef And Brocolli Recipe by Raymond Selzer
Servings: 5 serving
Ingredients
- 2 lb flank steak
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- assorted fresh vegetables for frying
- 2 broccoli chopped into small florets
- 1/4 cup ginger grated
- 2 tbsps garlic chopped
- 1/4 cup oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar red
- 2 large carrot peeled and cut thin on the bias
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup sherri, cooking wine, cooking liquor
Instructions
- Pound the beef with the smooth side of a mallet between two pieces of plastic wrap til 1/8" thin, then cut into 2"x2" squares
- In a separate bowl whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, garlic and ginger
- Place the beef in a ziplock bag or tupperware container, sprinkle on the flour and shake to coat
- heat some oil on high in a wok or large pan til sizzling. Add beef and stir fry until most of the pieces are brown and the ones that aren't almost are. 3-5 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.
- Deglaze the pan/wok with the cooking wine, add the vegetables and 1/2 cup water. Bring the water to a boil on high, cover and reduce to medium. Steam the vegetables for 5-8 minutes.
- Add the sauce and 1/4 cup water to the pan. Raise the heat back to high til the liquid is boiling, then stir in the meat and cook another 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Serve over rice (optional)
