All day I’ve been concocting this thing in my head. Took some effort to put together, but super duper worth it!

Shaved BBQ pork sirloin sandwich with smoked Gouda and garlic aioli

All day I was concocting this thing in my head. Took some effort to put together, but super duper worth it! For the dry rub  meat seasoning I use a “Caribbean Mix” I get at my local grocery store, or you can use the rub found here Bread recipe here:

Ingredients

For the sandwich

  • 2 lbs pork sirloin , shaved thin
  • 1/4 cup bbq sauce
  • 1 cup pickled peppers hot
  • 2 – 3 onions , sliced
  • 6 slices gouda cheese slices smoked
  • sugar
  • salt

For the aioli

  • 1/2 – 2/3 cup mayonaise
  • 3 tbsps chopped garlic
  • 1 1/2 tbsps lemon juice
  • salt
  • pepper

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a medium skillet, add onions with salt and sugar. Cook on low for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Place dough in oven at 375F for 22-25 minutes.
  • Whisk together aioli ingredients in a small bowl
  • Toss the meat in a large pan with oil and the spice mix. Brown on medium for about 10 minutes until all pieces are brown. Remove pan from heat and cover with a lid to let rest.
  • Remove bun(s) from oven and allow to cool. Immediately turn on your broiler. Add pork to a mixing bowl and toss with bbq sauce.
  • Cut the buns in half horizontally, place pork on the bottom halfs and liberallky slather the top piece with aioli. Cover the meat with cheese slices and load onions and peppers onto the top piece.
  • Place the sandwiches in the broiler for about 30-60 seconds until cheese is melted.
  • Place tops of sandwiches on their bottoms and cut sandwiches in half.
