Sesame Chicken

Ingredients

The Chicken

  • 1 lb chicken thighs boneless skinless, shaved into thin 2" pieces
  • 2 tbsp corn starch
  • salt and pepper to taste

The Sauce

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp white rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp ginger fresh grated
  • 2 tsp chopped garlic
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1/2 tbsp corn starch

Other

  • 1 large green pepper chopped
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 3 stalks green onion chopped into greens and whites
  • oil for frying

Instructions

  • Whisk together the sauce ingredients in a small bowl and set aside
  • heat some oil in a large pan on medium high
  • While the oil heats, combine the chicken ingredients in a small mixing bowl. Once the oil is sizzling add the chicken to the pan. Use your hand or a slotted spoon, do not pour the entire mixture direct into the pan
  • Cook the chicken, stirring frequently until golden brown- about 5 minutes, remove the chicken from the pan with a slotted spoon and set aside
  • Add the peppers, yellow onion and green onion whites to the pan and stir fry for 3-5 minutes until the onions soften.
  • Return the chicken to the pan, add the sauce and green onion greens.
  • Bring the mixture to a simmer, cover and cook on medium-low for 2-3 minutes
  • Serve over rice garnished with more sesame seeds
