Coney Island Chilli Dog (and friends!)

Ingredients

Coney Island Dogs

  • 8 hot dogs
  • 8 hot dog buns
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 large onion diced
  • 1 5.5 oz can tomato paste
  • 3 tsp chopped garlic
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp mustard plus more for serving
  • 1/2 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp celery salt
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 2 tsp chili powder

Memphis Dogs

  • 8 hot dogs
  • 8 hot dog buns
  • 12-16 bacon
  • 1 cup green onion sliced thin
  • 1-2 cups shredded cheddar
  • BBQ sauce (probably use Memphis style)

Kansas Dogs

  • 8 hot dogs
  • 8 hot dog buns
  • 8 swiss cheese
  • 2 cups sauerkraut
  • mustard optional

Instructions

Coney Island Dogs

  • Brown the ground beef in a large pot. 8-10 minutes
  • Add half the onions and all the garlic, stir to combine and continue to cook til onions soften and become fragrant. 5-8 minutes.
  • Add the remaining ingredients to the pot (except the hot dogs and buns). Stir to combine, bring to a boil on high heat then reduce to medium heat and simmer at least 20 minutes.
  • Grill hot dogs to desired doneness, serve with chilli, raw white onion and yellow mustard.

Memphis Dogs

  • Cook the bacon til cooked through, but still soft
  • Grill the dogs to desired doneness.
  • Wrap a hot dog in bacon- 1-2 slices as needed, top with cheese, green onion and BBQ sauce

Kansas City Dog

  • Grill hot dogs to desired doneness. Top with swiss cheese, sauerkraut and optionally mustard.
