Ingredients
- 1 cup basmati rice dry
- 1/2 tsp powdered saffron
- 1/4 cup hot water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 cups chicken broth or vegetable stock
- sumac for garnish
- 1 medium onion chopped fine
- butter
Instructions
- Heat a sauce pan on medium and saute the onions in the butter until soft- about 3 minutes
- In a small bowl whisk together the saffron and warm water
- Add the dry rice to the pan, pour in the saffron water and stir to combine
- Add the chicken stock, stir again and bring to a boil
- reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 10 minutes
- Serve rice garnished liberally with sumac
