Bucatini With Sausage Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs sausage spicy Italian (8-10) casings removed
  • 1 onion medium , diced
  • 1 1/2 large tbsps chopped garlic
  • 1 28 oz tomato diced cans
  • 850 - 900 ml spaghetti sauce plain
  • 2 6 oz tomato paste cans
  • 2 cups water
  • 3 tsps basil dried
  • 2 tsps parsley dried
  • 1 1/2 tsps brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup red wine
  • bucatini
  • parmesan freshly grated

Instructions

  • Break apart sausages and brown the pieces in a large sauce pot. Use a wide and thin spoon to break the sausage into smaller pieces in the pot. Continue to cook until fully browned. About 5-8 minutes.
  • Stir in onion and cook until onion softens.
  • Add diced tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, water, garlic, basil, parsley and sugar. Stir to fully combine and bring to a boil. Once boiling, stir in the wine.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes covered and 30 minutes uncovered.
  • Cook bucatini as desired. Serve garnished with parmesan.
