heat oil in a large pan on medium high, then cook the hot dogs til their colour darkens and they begin to firm up- about 5 minutes, then remove from the pan with a slotted spoon
While the hot dogs cook add the potatoes to a large mixing bowl and toss with the oil, then add the spice mix and toss more to fully coat all the potatoes
Once the hot dogs are out of the pan add the potatoes and cook on medium with the lid on for 20-30 minutes until almost fork tender, stirring occasionally
Add the hotdogs, onions, garlic and optional sauerkraut back to the pan, stir around to full combine, cover and cook another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally
